Bloomingdale-Mr. A.J. "Mack" McElveen, 79, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at
his home.
Mr. A.J. was born in Daisy, GA and retired from Stone Container in 1992 after 40 years
of service. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and he served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. A.J. was preceded in death by a son, Steve Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Dora McElveen of Bloomingdale; daughter, Debra Fail of
Guyton; son, David Wilson of Bloomingdale; sister, Jennette Rosenberg of Trenton, SC;
brother, Earl McElveen of Bloomingdale; nine grandchildren, Craig, Tobie, Jason,
Wesley, Rachel, Shayne, Chad, Courtney and Joe; ten great-grandchildren, Robbie,
Cameron, Logan, Little Jason, Elizabeth, Cameron, Kobe, Kaybre, Kayley, Taylor and Payson.
The visitation for Mr. A.J. will be on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from
6-8 p.m. at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.
The funeral to honor Mr. A.J.'s life will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in the chapel of the funeral home. Rev. Ken Otto will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Jason Fail, Wesley Wilson, Ashley Fail, Chad Wilson, Jamie Edenfield, Brett Ambrose, Jeremy Atkinson and Billy Robinson. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery on Dean Forest Road in Garden City.
