Mr. Alexander Lewis Quarterman, 80, of Pooler, GA, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Savannah to the late Elton S. Quarterman, Sr. and Loree Aikens Quartman. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Elton Quarterman, Jr. and his sister, Betty Delanie Lunceford (Alex). He graduated from Savannah High School in 1959 and from the University of Georgia in 1966 with a Pharmacy degree. He owned and operated Pooler Drugs and Village Pharmacy. He later was employed as a pharmacist at Memorial Health University Medical Center and later retired from Winn Army Hospital in 2015. He attended the First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Perry Quarterman; daughters, Alison Bowers and Ashley Quarterman; grandchildren, Stephen Alexander Bowers and Samantha Lee Bowers; brothers, Dr. G. William "Bill" Quarterman (Cyd) and Rev. Robert L. "Bob" Quarterman (Liz); sister-in-law, Joan Quarterman, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Thursday, August 5 th from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home in Pooler.
The funeral will be on Friday, August 6 th at 12 noon in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home in Pooler with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
