Pooler-Mr. Alfred DeFilippis, 71, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010.
Mr. Alfred was born in South Patterson, NJ and retired from the United States Air Force
as a Senior Master Sgt. after 20 years of service. He later retired as Vice-President of
Natrochem. He was very active in the Church and charity organizations. He was a
member of the Director's Staff of the Alee Shrine and was a member of the Black Creek
Golf Club. He served eighteen years as a City Alderman and five years as Mayor
Pro-Tem for the City of Pooler. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and spending time with
his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betsy Mullins
DeFilippis.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Sonny & Susan DeFilippis, Tony &
Marla DeFilippis and Mike & Michelle DeFilippis; grandchildren, Kira & Jared, Kristen,
Whitney, A.J., Adrienne, Cayse, William, Luke, Andrew and Alex; great-grandchildren,
Bella Grayce and Zoey Elizabeth and his sister, Delores Carthell.
Visitation: 5:30-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. on Monday in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at
Gravel Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
