Port Wentworth-Mr. Allen Lee Williams, Sr., 76, passed away on Wednesday, July 16,
2008 at his daughter's home in Statesboro.
Allen was born on April 10, 1932 in Fulton County to the late Willie Hopkins Williams
and Elouise Marie Maxson Williams. He grew up in Fulton County where he worked for
Universal Film Exchange for several years. He then enlisted in the United States Army
and worked as a military police officer. After completion of service, Allen was hired by
Sears Roebuck and Company which brought him to Savannah in 1967 where he raised his
family. During his early years in Savannah, Allen volunteered for the United Way, Pack
the Park, Lion's Club and various political organizations. After over forty years of
service with Sears he retired in 1995. He spent several years of his retirement caring for
animals he loved so dearly and hanging out at the Deli-Mart. Allen will be sadly missed
by his family and friends.
Allen is survived by his five children, Allen Lee Williams, Jr. of Statesboro, Terry Lee
Foster (Mark) of Panama City, FL, David Lee Williams (Diana) of Atlanta, Deanna Gail
Easton (Clint) of Statesboro and Daniel Justin Williams (Cathi) of Michigan City, IN;
sister, Terry Williams of Atlanta; former wife, Donna Williams Howard of Rome; seven
grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Graveside Funeral: 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
