Garden City-Mrs. Alma Elizabeth Hinely, 92, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Spanish Oaks Retreat.
Mrs. Alma was born in Leefield to the late Nathaniel Green Cowart and Nellie Mae Clifton Cowart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Hinely as well as three brothers and two sisters. She was the oldest member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and she enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include her son, Douglas E. (Lora) Hinely, Sr. of Pooler; her daughter, JaNell (Milton) Hedgepath of Leesville, SC; sisters, Thelma Beasley of Savannah and Ruth Ellen Brown of Statesboro; grandsons, Douglas E. (Kelly) Hinely, Jr. of Newnan, Chris Hinely of Athens and Taylor Hedgepath of Irmo, SC; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Hinely and Reagan Hinely, both of Newnan and many nieces and nephews.
The visitation for Mrs. Alma will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the funeral home.
The funeral to honor Mrs. Alma's life will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011 in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery on Wheaton Street in Savannah.
