Alma W. Mikell

Rincon- Alma W. Mikell, 91, passed away peacefully Friday, February 24, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital with her family beside her.

The Elizabethton, TN native was preceded in death by her husband, Clint Mikell; her son, Gary Mikell; her sister, Joyce Owens; and her brother, Robert Hendrix. Her family moved to Savannah in the early 1940's, then her and her husband moved to Rincon in 1949. She had worked in the shipyard during World War II as a riveter.

She lived a wonderful life in that she loved her family (especially her great-grandchildren) and her church family at First Baptist Church of Rincon. She loved quilting, gardening, sharing a smile, and baking homemade biscuits for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Tommy Brennan of Rincon; a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Bonnie Mikell of Rincon; four grandsons, Ben Morgan and wife, Sandy & Dan Morgan and wife, Nicole, all of Springfield, Scott Mikell and wife, Leslie of Duluth and Brett Mikell and wife, Stephanie of North Augusta, SC; step-grandsons, Shel Brennan and wife, Cindy and Terry Brennan, all of Savannah; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh & Tanner Mikell of Duluth, Ashlynn Mikell of North Augusta, Bayley & Brandan Morgan, and Zach Pittman, all of Springfield; sisters, Mildred Radford of Elizabethton, TN, Mary Radford of Rincon, Billie Anthony and Kitty Anderson of James Island, SC; a brother, Raymond Hendrix, Jr. of Swainsboro; a brother-in-law, Delmus Mikell and wife, Martha of Millbrook, AL; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5-7 pm Monday, February 27, 2012 in the funeral home.

Funeral: 11 am Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Rincon.

Interment: Rincon Cemetery

A special thanks to Mrs. Mikell's caregivers, who treated her like family, especially Liz Whitley, the staff at Hospice of Savannah homecare, the personnel of Meals on Wheels and the church members and friends who came to visit.
