Alton Eustace Ford

Springfield – Alton Eustace Ford, 91, passed away March 10, 2018 at Effingham Hospital.

The Effingham County native was a U.S. Army WWII veteran having served in the Infantry in Germany. He was the owner/operator of N.A.P.A. for many years and was an avid golfer into his mid 80's.  He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, served on the church council, and was active on the property committee.  He was a former City Councilman in Springfield, former Mayor, and former volunteer fireman.  He was a member of the Lions Club, Jaycees, and American Legion where he formerly served as adjutant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Parker and Pearl Shearouse Ford; and his wife of 73 years, Myrtice McLeod Ford.

Survivors include his sons, Eustace Ford (Nancy), Dale Ford, Doug Ford (Janice); 7 grandchildren, Tony ford, Stephanie Jones, Daniel Ford, Jason Ford, Jared Rahn, Dustin Ford, and Jake Ford; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Effingham Care Center for the care shown to Mr. Ford.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with funeral services following at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jim Cavanah officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren.

Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Garden.
