Mr. Alvah R. "AL" Watts, 73, of Savannah, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Hospice Savannah.
He was born in Savannah to the late Robert & Marguerite Watts. He served his country in the U.S. Army where he was a paratrooper, and was a member of the Bloomingdale Fellowship Church of God of Prophecy. He had served as Secretary-Treasurer, Vice President, President, Assistant Business Manager, and Business Manager at Local Union 26 as well as International Representative, and assistant to the International President of the Brotherhood of Boilermakers. He was the Apprentice of the Year in 1972 at Local 26. He enjoyed sports, especially golf, watching old time movies, traveling, and enjoyed shagging. He was the head of our family, the "Big Boss", a strategic thinker, doer and planner.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Watts; children and their spouses, Clint Watts (Debbie), Terry Watts Douberley (Dale) and Tony Watts (fiancé-Erin); he was "Gacky" to his grandchildren, Christy Watts, Heather Douberley Chapman (Norman) and Logan Douberley; great-grandchildren, Morgan Ayers, Sutton Chapman and Laykin Chapman; brothers, Carson Watts and Thurman Watts (Sharon); father and mother-in-law, Travis & Mildred Yeomans; a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
