"And as it is appointed unto men once to die…" Hebrews 9:27, Annie Pearl Mallard Rahn was called home on Sunday, July 20, 2008. It was at that time, her journey of 93 years ended and her new life began in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Annie Rahn was born on April 18, 1915 in Bullock County, Georgia. She lived most of her adult life in Chatham County and was a member of Woodlawn Methodist Church.
Her thoughts and prayers were always for others. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend and dedicated her life to taking care of those she loved. She had a rich life and she received great joy and pleasure when she was doing for others. Her hobbies were cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening and welcoming family and friends into her home. She was one who was not afraid to try different things such as riding a 4-wheeler or tubing behind a boat. Her treasured husband of 58 years always said, "She will try anything once!"
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Claudius Leroy Rahn, sons, Maurice and Herbert Rahn. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Debra and Robert Bedgood of Pooler, Lujan and Doyle Barden of Branford, Florida, daughter-in-law Betty Sue Rahn of Pooler, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
This greathearted lady with her beautiful smile will sorely be missed by all who knew and loved her; there is solace in knowing she had trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior. Annie Rahn found assurance in: Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God- Not of works, lest any man should boast" and I John 5:13 "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." Having this faith, on Sunday, July 20, 2008, the open arms of Jesus Christ welcomed her home for an eternal life of celebration with all the saints.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, July 22 from 6-8 p.m. at Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 23 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Hospice of Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
