Savannah-Mr. Archie L. "Lefty" English, 78, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mr. Archie was born in Ridgeland, SC to the late Archie T. & Iva Ruth English. He was also preceded in death by a child, Kelly Lee English, a grandson, Stephen Costa, two brothers, Herbert English and David F. English, and a son-in-law, Pat Edmunds. He was of the Baptist faith and loved racing, fishing, fixing lawn mowers, and watching the grandkids play ball. He retired from Chatham Area Transit.
Survivors include his wife, Blendith English; children, Judy Edmunds, David L. English, and Troy & Donna English; grandchildren, Chris & Amy Todd, Kelly & Paul DeVlieger, Justin English, Adam English, and McKenzie English; great-grandchildren, Ward Lancaster, Rachel Todd, and Corbin DeVlieger; brothers, John & Wilma English and Gene & Sally English; sister, Bonnie Martin; sisters-in-law, Georgette English and Betty Thompson, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jonathan Phillips officiating. Pallbearers will be Justin English, Adam English, Eugene Ginn, Jr., Fritz Gordon, Ward Lancaster, and Terry Fennell. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
