Mr. Arthur Burnette Nease, Jr.
Burnette, 88, passed away to be with the Lord on Friday, February 2, 2018. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Jean Scott Nease. He was born in Port Wentworth to Alma and Arthur B. Nease, Sr. Burnette and Jean lived in Port Wentworth raising five children; daughter Marsha Nease Brown (Randy), son Randy (Bernardine), Terry (Jennifer), Wade (Lynette) and Timmy. He grew up as a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, and after marriage, became a member of Port Wentworth United Methodist Church. For some years he was a member of Fellowship Assembly of God and served on the Board during the building of the church. Everyone who knew Burnette knew that he loved the Lord, his family and his country. He was a proud Eagle Scout. Burnette Nease was a member of the United States Marine Reserve in Company D, 10 th Infantry Battalion for two years before being mobilized in 1950. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Burnette was retired from Stone Container. In addition to his parents and his wife he was also predeceased by his sister and her husband, Vera and Richard Kessler and a grandson, Scottie Nease. Surviving are his brother and his wife, Waldo and JoAnn Nease; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Wallace Holland and his staff for the excellent care he gave both our parents. We will always consider him part of our family. We would also like to thank Dr. Ronald Goldberg and staff for the many years of cancer care given to our father. Thank you to his faithful friends and golfing buddies: Kent Rahn, Pep Blackwelder, Jimmy Gunby and Bobby Murray. He enjoyed many happy days on the golf course with you. The visitation will be on Tuesday, February 6 th from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral will be on Wednesday, February 7 th at 11 a.m. at the Port Wentworth United Methodist Church, with Rev. Randy Nease and Rev. Gary Boyles officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Jeremy Nease, Jody Brown, Stephen Nease, Brandon Nease, Travis Nease, Jonathan Nease and Quinton Nease. We were blessed to have had the most wonderful, Christian parents. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to Port Wentworth United Methodist Church, 201 Turnberry Street, Port Wentworth, GA 31407.
