Mrs. Aunette Shipes, 86, of Pooler, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
She was born in Geneva, AL and had lived in Chatham County for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Bess and Nancy Everett, her husband, Willie Earl Shipes, daughter, Midge Wynn, son-in-law, Wendell Wynn, granddaughter, Alicia Driggers, and her husband, Jody Driggers. She retired from the Army & Air Force Exchange Services at Hunter Army Air Field after 30 years. She volunteered at the Savannah Navy League and at the U.S.O. at Savannah Airport.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patty & Travis Whiting; 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Danny & Carol Wynn, Dennis & Sandi Wynn, Ashley Whiting, Shaun Whiting and Jordan Whiting; 10 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; cousin, James Lewis Devine, several nieces and nephews, and numerous very close friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 13 th from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home located at 901 W. Hwy. 80 in Pooler, GA.
