Mr. Austin B. Kersey, 87, of Port Wentworth, died on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at
Memorial Health University Medical Center with his family at his side.
Mr. Kersey was born in Emanuel County and had lived in Port Wentworth over 50 years.
He was a member of Living Faith Church of God and loved to read his Bible. He served
his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Union Camp after 32
years of faithful service. Mr. Kersey enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Juanita H. Kersey of Port Wentworth; daughter
and son-in-law, Brenda K. & Ted Johnson of Guyton; grandchildren, Christopher,
Bradley (Kimberly) and Ryan (Jennifer) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Garret,
Hunter, Ethan, Evan, Eric and Madison Johnson; sisters, Pearl K. Jones of Adrian and
Georgia Foskey of Dublin and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons
Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.
Funeral: 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 in the chapel of the Thomas C.
Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel with burial to follow at Hillcrest
Abbey West Cemetery on Dean Forest Road.
