Austin George Oglesby Peacock

Austin George Ogelsby Peacock, age 14, of Richmond Hill, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Memorial University Health Center, following a brief battle with brain cancer.

Austin was born on July 20, 2011, in Savannah, Georgia. He was a ninth-grade student at Richmond Hill High School, where he was active in the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC). There he found true camaraderie and developed a deep love for his country. During the most demanding drills, Austin was known for finishing strong and saying with determination, “I’m not last!”

Austin was a faithful communicant member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Richmond Hill. He was baptized as a covenant child on January 27, 2017, and became a communing member on May 5, 2024. He served tirelessly each week—leading sound setup, assisting with children’s ministry preparations, placing hymnals on chairs, and doing whatever else was asked of him. When storms came and cleanup was needed, or when someone had to move, Austin was the first to volunteer. While many serve monthly, Austin served weekly, rain or shine, trusting that his reward was in heaven.

Austin was preceded in death by his uncle, John Peacock; his grandparents, Steven Peacock and Tommy Rhodes; his great-grandparents, Chester Boatright, James and Patricia Mitchell; and his great-uncles, Leon (Lenore) and Jimmy Campbell.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Miranda and D.L. Rollins; his brother, Axel Peacock; and his grandmother, Cathye Rhodes, all of the home. He is also survived by his biological father, Alfred Oglesby, of Savannah, and his step-grandmother, Lynda Peacock. Additional surviving family members include his uncles and aunts: Travis and Danielle Peacock, Kenneth and Heydi Peacock, Butch and Susan Boatright, Lynne Boatright, Benji and Brenda Peacock, and Brenda Campbell; his cousins, Khloe, Piper, and Alyvia Peacock, and Barry and Karen Russell, Herman and Jeannie Crawford; his step-siblings, Aaron and Anna Grace Rollins; his step-grandparents, Bill and Toni Rollins; and his step-aunts and step-uncle, Bethany and Nate Crocker and Shelly Stubbs. Austin is also lovingly remembered by his New Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA) family, his Dentistry at Godley Station family, and many second cousins and dear friends who faithfully visited him throughout his time in the hospital.

Austin rested and trusted in Christ alone for his eternal salvation. Even while facing death, he never doubted God’s sovereignty or goodness. He heard his Savior’s gracious call in Matthew 11:28–29: “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Though his earthly burden was heavy, he found true rest in being yoked to Christ. He now sits at our King’s table, and we look forward in certain hope to the day we shall see him again.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to New Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA) for the love and faithful support shown throughout this time. They are likewise grateful to Southwest Baptist Church and Springfield Oak Church for their kindness and encouragement. A special thank you is also extended for the overwhelming love shown by The Dentistry at Godley Station family. Special thanks are also extended to the remarkable staff of the PICU at Memorial. The doctors, nurses, and medical team cared for Austin with extraordinary compassion, going above and beyond to make his final days on earth marked by dignity, joy, and hope.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation beginning at 2:30 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026, followed by the funeral service at 4:00 PM at Southwest Baptist Church, 831 Little Neck Rd, Savannah, GA 31419. Officiating will be Rev. Travis Peacock, Rev. Benji Peacock, Rev. Kenneth Peacock, Elder Rob Shepherd, and Elder David Prussia. A meal for family and friends will follow in the church social hall.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 2nd, at 1:00 PM at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery, 1336 Dean Forest Rd, Savannah, GA 31405.
