Pooler-Mrs. Barbara Jean Fort, 63, of Pooler, transitioned from this life on February 24, 2015 at her residence after a long battle with cancer.
She retired from Bloomingdale Elementary School after 24 years of service. She attended Trinity Church of God in Garden City. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, mema (mawmaw), aunt, sister, friend, and teacher. She was a truly amazing woman! She was loved deeply, and will be missed.
Survived by her mother, Rachel Carter; her husband and soul mate of 46 years, George R. (Bobby) Fort; her children, Cheryl Fort Skipper (Donald), George R. Fort, Jr. (Lisa), Kim Fort Johnson (Chris), Michael Fort (Dayanne); eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers; nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. on Saturday at Trinity Church of God located at 2202 U.S. Hwy. 80 in Garden City. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
