Guyton-Mrs. Barbara S. Hargroves, 69, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Hospice Savannah.
Barbara was born in Millen to the late James Alex & Cleo Chance Sowell. She was a member of Countryside Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, and taught the Junior Girls Sunday School Class. She retired with 30 years of service from Bellsouth.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Hargroves, Jr.; son, Michael (Coreen) Hughes; daughter, Lisa H. Goros; grandson, Caleb Hughes; step-children, Larie Dempsey; Sheri (Lee) Woods, and Tiffany (Michael) Sparks; 7 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys McCorkle (deceased), Velma Gay (James), and Vera Nell (Buford) McGraw; brothers, Theo Sowell (deceased), Travis (Sandra) Sowell , and Raymond (Judy) Sowell; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at Countryside Baptist Church with burial to follow at Effingham Memorial Gardens.
Remembrances may be given to the Countryside Baptist Church "Beginning of Miracles" fund, 1201 Noel C. Conaway Road, Guyton, GA 31312.
