Obituary
Pooler-Mrs. Barbara Jean Yates, 61, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Hospice Savannah.
Mrs. Barbara was born in Welcome, NC to the late Hobert Fishel Koontz and Mildred Maxine Koontz. Along with her husband, she was the co-owner/operator of Don's Barbeque in Pooler from March of 1989 until 2011. She had also been employed at Ottawa Farms for the last 18 months. She was a Methodist and also a seamstress.
Survivors include her husband, Don Wayne Yates; brothers and sisters, Larry Koontz, Martha Thomason, Ralph Koontz, Richard Koontz, Sharon Temple, Kenneth Koontz, Mary Everhart, Terry Koontz, Teresa Bradshaw, Stephen Koontz and Annette Hicks as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. on Friday in the chapel of the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be sent to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
