Mr. Benjamin Walter Stewart, 79, of Bloomingdale, died on Thursday, February 14, 2008
at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Mr. Stewart was born in Sylvania and lived most of his life in Chatham and Effingham
County. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Freida B. Stewart and two
sons, Benjamin Walter Stewart and Michael Eugene Stewart. He was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale where he was a Deacon, taught Sunday school over
60 years, was a former Sunday School Director, Training Union Director and Church
Treasurer. He was a charter member of the Bloomingdale Lions Club and he was a
Mason. Mr. Stewart was an avid fisherman and was the former owner/operator of
Stewart Masonry Contractors.

Survivors include his children, Sandra & Alton Jones, Peggy Crist and Debra & Phillip
Kicklighter, all of Bloomingdale; grandchildren, Brandi Morgan, Jennifer Lynn, Michelle
Pacheco, Sabrina Stewart, Matthew Kicklighter and Rachael Kicklighter; six
great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Robert & Geraldine Stewart of Bloomingdale,
Ervin and the late Carolyn Stewart of Leesville, LA, Raymond & Vicky Stewart of
Guyton, Daniel & Becky Stewart of Knoxville, TN, Joyce Mock of Garden City, Doris &
Sonny Woods of Guyton, Lois & James Scott of Eden and a number of nieces and
nephews.

The visitation for Mr. Stewart is from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at the
Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.

The funeral to honor Mr. Stewart's life is at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2008 at the
First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale with Rev. Darrell Bailey officiating. Mrs. Vicky
Sikes, Mrs. Mildred Helmey and Mrs. Angela Jernigan will provide the music. The
Church Deacons will serve as active pallbearers with The Ben Stewart and Mens One
Sunday School Classes serving as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow at Hillcrest
Abbey East Cemetery on Wheaton Street in Savannah.
