Alton Benjamin "Benny" Kessler
Springfield- Alton Benjamin "Benny" Kessler, 75, died January 12, 2016 at Westview Nursing & Rehab Center.
The Effingham County native was a member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Benny had worked at Union Camp, graduated in 1973 from the University of Georgia in Landscape Architecture. He had served in the Georgia Army National Guard and retired from the Air Force Combat Readiness Training Center with a total of 34 years of service.
He was a member of the Alee Temple Shriners, Past Master of the Springfield Masonic Lodge #440 F & AM, and a lifetime member of the Georgia Salzburger Society.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Hart Kessler; daughter, Karen Louise (Corey) Anderson; sons, Karl Benjamin (Julie) Kessler and Henry Thomas (Betsy) Kessler; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn (D.M.) Arnsdorff and Joyce (Mike) Bragg; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 pm Monday, January 18, 2016 in the funeral home.
Funeral: 3 pm Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Jerusalem Lutheran Church.
Interment: Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
