Mr. Bernie Franklin Jarriel, Sr., 93, of Meldrim, GA, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024 at his home.

Bernie was born in Tattnall County and had lived in Savannah for a number of years before moving to Meldrim 18 years ago.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Edith Pitman Jarriel, a daughter, Valarie Susan Jarriel, his parents, Carl and Alma Sapp Jarriel as well as a sister and a brother.  He served his country in the GA Army National Guard, was a pilot both in the military as well as a private pilot.  He was a H.A.M. Radio Operator, and along with his wife, enjoyed bluegrass festivals and camping in their motorhome.

Survivors include his children, Kay Riley (Richard), Bernie Jarriel, Jr. (Tammy), and Kristina Scott (Chris); 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Kessler and Carleen Alford; brother, Keith Jarriel, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The graveside funeral and burial to honor Bernie's life will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Oak Hill Cemetery located at 100 Oconee Avenue in Meldrim, Georgia.
