Betty Mattox

With love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Mrs. Betty Mattox, who peacefully departed this life on July 11, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Betty was born in Jeff Davis County, Georgia, and made her home in Eden for over 60 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. Known for her kind heart and gentle spirit, Betty was a wonderful listener who made everyone feel heard and valued. She also expressed her love through her cooking, always welcoming others with a warm meal and an open heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Olen Kitchens and Etta Mae O’Brien Beach, her loving husband William “Billy” Mattox Sr., sister Kathryn Williamson, and brothers Jimmy Kitchens, M.L. Kitchen, and Dennis Kitchens.

She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory always, including her children: Linda Smith (Solomon) of Eden, William Mattox Jr. (Lynn) of Eden, and Bobby Mattox (Paige) of Pooler; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

 To celebrate Betty’s life a visitation service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 1 p.m. until 2p.m. at the funeral home. The memorial service to honor Betty's life will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.

In honor of Betty’s compassion and in appreciation for the excellent care she received, the family kindly requests that donations be made to R.A.B.Home Healthcare LLC in lieu of flowers. 

Her love, warmth, and quiet strength will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
