Betty Ann Robertson Rahn
Springfield – Betty Ann Robertson Rahn, 89, died peacefully in her sleep on January 23, 2022 at Effingham Care Center
Betty was born on January 19, 1933, the daughter of the late Roy McDonald and Audrey Adams Robertson of Cairo, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, "Coach" George Patten Rahn; sister Cebe Gunter (Ed), and brothers, Roy and Alonzo Robertson.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Rozanne Aimone (Charley) and April Helmly (Clay); four grandchildren, Emily Aimone Brown (Stiles) Glynn-Patten Helmly (Elizabeth) Drew Aimone (Gracie), and Zach Helmly; two new great granddaughters, Mae Brown and Patten Helmly: her many beloved Rahn and Robertson relatives and many dear friends.
Betty was a graduate of Georgia Teachers' College (now GSU) where she met her forever sweetheart, George Patten of Springfield, Ga. graduating with a B.S. in Education. She quickly became the new, beautiful teacher in the Effingham Co. school system and specialized in teaching children to love reading. She was active at Springfield UMC and annual Effingham Campmeeting. She quickly became a favorite in George's close Rahn family because of her sweet and fun personality. As a mom and wife, Betty enjoyed having folks over to enjoy their pool, tennis court, flowers and blueberry bushes, pets, and homemade ice cream. She loved going to Tybee, Hilton Head, Broughton Street shopping and out dancing with George. She happily welcomed two sons-in-law and loved to joke with her spunky personality. When Betty became a grandma, she and George were happily retired and were two fun grandparents.
Betty may be most remembered for her excellent loving care of George "Pops" after his stroke for 12 years. They could be seen riding around town, attending church, frequenting local restaurants, attending grandchildren's sports, and continuing to enjoy life. Her servant's heart was a picture of Jesus to many. After George passed away and she needed to be in assisted living, she moved into Lakeview and then Effingham Care Center, remaining content and keeping her playful personality, love of music and rhymes. We are more than grateful for her caregivers at each facility.
