Faulkville/Savannah-Mrs. Betty Ruth Smith, 84, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Hospice Savannah.
Mrs. Betty was born in Leroy, Illinois to the late Wesley & Irene Ratcliffe. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. She was a member of Rothwell Baptist Church and volunteered at the Eighth Air Force National Museum. She was a life member of the Savannah Wing of the Eighth Air Force Heritage Society. She volunteered over 500 hours in the mental health field and enjoyed arts, crafts, crocheting, decorating and traveling.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Glenn L. Smith; children, Harvey Nieslawski (Thuy), Peggy Haskins (Frank), Nancy Cribbett (Ken) and Glenn L. Smith, Jr.; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucy Tharpe of Farmer City, IL and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. on Saturday at Rothwell Baptist Church located at 216 Rothwell Street in Pooler. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
