Mrs. Betty Lou Wasson, known as "Granny", 86, of Bloomingdale, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.

Betty was born in Savannah, Georgia.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Albert Wasson, her parents, Hiram and Carrie Lou Cross Boatright, a granddaughter, Jenny Harmon Miller, sisters, Freida Stewart, Deloris Boatright and Patricia Blanton, her brother, Dexter Boatright, and a son-in-law, Dan Harmon.  She had been a member of the Bloomingdale First Baptist Church since she was 13 years old.  She worked at Big Star Foods in the 70's, KFC in the 90's, and was also a homemaker.  She was a great cook, well known for her homemade dressing, and she always enjoyed decorating for the holidays.  She will be remembered for being a talker and for always being late.  She loved her family and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Rhonda Corbett (G.W.) of Garden City, Karen Harmon (Richard) of Pooler, Janis Bryson (Jimmy) of Statesboro, and Christina Hester (Chris) of Fleming; grandchildren, Kelsey May (Martin), Allyson Burns, Brian McDonald (Aimee), Heather Hynko, Christopher Schaffer (Grace), Dallas Bryson (Hayley),  Steven Hester (Haley), Sierra Richards (Cameron), Nolan Hester, and Abbigail Hester; great-grandchildren, Micah, Bailee and Adeline McDonald, Reagan and Presley Hynko, Elijah Schaffer, Marijayne, Ozwald and Jaxon Richards, and Jensen Hester; sister, Jeanette Healan; sister-in-law, Joyce Wasson; close friends, Betty Mattox, Judy and Palmer White, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.  The funeral to honor Betty's life will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
