Bloomingdale – Billy G. Gordy, 59, of Bloomingdale, died early Sunday, September 22, at his home after a very valiant battle against colon cancer. Billy is best remembered for his optimism and always warm beautiful smile. Born in Lyons, Georgia on September 11, 1954, he was the son of the late Jim Paul and Evelyn Mosley Gordy.
Mr. Gordy was a retired Truck Driver, having owned his own company and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale.
Surviving are his daughter, Brandie Fuller, and her husband, Jimmy of Bloomingdale; his son, Brian Gordy of Bloomingdale; five brothers, Jim Paul Gordy, Jr. and his wife, Carol Ann of Alma, Mike Gordy and his wife, Jenny , of Great Bend, Kansas, Ron Gordy and his wife, Betty of Savannah, Robert Gordy and his wife, Sue, of Galena, Missouri, and Wallace Gordy and his wife, Lee Ann of Lyons; four sisters, Martha Nell Powell of Lyons, Helen Kirkland of Rincon, Faye Tyson and her husband, Ralph, of Waycross and Ann Alchian and her husband, Allan, of Monument, Colorado; six grandchildren, Colby Fuller, Hailey Fuller, and Jolie Fuller of Bloomingdale, Brice Gordy of Pooler, and Kendall Woodcock and Kaleigh Woodcock of Savannah; and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation was held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral to honor Billy was held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 2:oo pm in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Larry Speirs officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were Chan Gordy, Chris Gordy, Kenny Sauls, Jonathan Gordy, Andy Harvey, Scott Sapp, Rick Bolin and Kenny Hodges. Music was provided by Jonathan Gordy and Kendall Hadden.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Research Institute
