Mr. Billy Ray Jones, 87, of Lyons, GA, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Meadows Memorial Hospital in Vidalia, GA.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Vancine P.  Jones; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy R. Jones (Michelle) of Lyons and Christiaan A. Jones and grandson Ethan A. Jones of Savannah, sister, Betty Brannen Johnson (Wayne) of Pooler and brother, Eugene Brannen (Louise-deceased) of Guyton as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dogs Brutus and Penny.

He was born in Aiken, SC on Feb. 17, 1935 and was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Ellis Brannen,  He was also preceded in death by siblings, Clyde Tennison, Wallace Tennison, Callie Tennison Bragg, and Mamie Tennison Coleman.  He retired from International Paper (Union Camp) in 1994 after 40 years as a printer in the bag division. Then he and his wife moved from Bloomingdale to Lyons where he loved the family farm. He lived on the farm for 30 years enjoying the many animals- his cows, goats, and his pet chicken and Guinea. Another passion for him was the Atlanta Braves. He was an avid fan, never missing a game.  The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Meadows Memorial for their care of him during his stay.

The visitation will be on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 1 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. at the funeral home.  The graveside funeral and burial to honor Mr. Jones life will follow at 2 p.m. at Gravel Hill Cemetery with Brother Kenny Harrelson officiating.
