Faulkville-Mr. Braxton Dean Jeffers, Sr., 72, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Jeffers was born December 30, 1942 in Savannah, GA to the late Cois & Catherine Jeffers. He lived in Savannah for several years and in 1974 moved to Faulkville, GA. He worked as a diesel mechanic for 38 years at Roberts Diesel in Garden City, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, Meldrim & Bertha Mosely and Ottis & Lilla Jeffers, and a brother, Gary Jeffers. Mr. Jeffers loved baseball and coached several baseball teams for the Lakeside Association, having successful teams that went to state. He also loved fishing and gardening, but his love was his God and his precious family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Brenda Jeffers, the love of his life. He is also survived by daughter and son-in-law, Thera Parker (Michael); sons and daughters-in-law, Jesse Oglesby (Sheila), Braxton Jeffers Jr. (Ginger), and daughter, Bonnie Jeffers; grandchildren, Will Zeigler, Chris Parker (Shannon), Mark Parker (Carey), Dean Oglesby, Lauren Eades (Brice), Seth Zeigler, Hannah Oglesby, Taylor Harvest and Caleb Harvest; great-grandchildren, Samantha Parker, Jeremy Godbee and Lilly Godbee; brothers, Russell Jeffers (Mae Jo), Kenny Jeffers (Patsy), Gerald Jeffers (Sharon), Derrick Jeffers (Janice), and Randall Jeffers (Pat); sisters, Sharon Akins (Gary), Pam Parrish (Richard), and Cathy Jeffers ( Willie Orr); several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Howington and all the staff at HICC at St. Joseph's Hospital for all their support and compassion. Also for all the support by family and friends by their visits and phone calls.
The visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral will be on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Greenwich Cemetery in Savannah.
