Buddy Padgett, Sr.
Guyton-Buddy Padgett, Sr., 83, died Monday, June 5, 2017. Buddy was born in North Augusta, SC, but moved to Savannah as a teenager. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester & Frances Padgett; his bothers, Carlton & Buck Padgett; and his sister, Debra Padgett.
He went to Commercial High School, where he met his wife, Betty Sasser. They were married and have 3 sons, Buddy, Jr. (Susie), Guy, and Barry; 9 grandchildren, Bret, Amber, Hunter, Cody, Cameron, Shelby, Travis, Casey, and Amanda; 6 great-grandchildren, Mason, Caleb, Madlynn, Jace, Quen, and Jayden; brother, James; and sister, Barbara Kirven.
Buddy played baseball for the Cincinnati Reds, Barrett Oil, and Commercial. He also played River League Baseball. Buddy played softball with the Red Division Fountain Marina team and made All-World first team 55 and over. Buddy loved playing ball and never missed a game. His name is retired on the monument at Paulsen Stadium. Buddy retired from CSX Railroad after 36 years of service. The family and friends will miss Buddy as he was someone you love as he never met a stranger.
Visitation: 12 – 1 pm Thursday, June 8, 2017 in the funeral home.
Funeral: 1 pm Thursday, June 8, 2017 in the funeral home chapel.
Pallbearers: Grandsons, Cody, Cameron, Bret, Hunter, and Casey; nephews, James, Jr. and Ronnie Weaver; and dear friend, David Quarterman.
Interment: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens
