Mr. Carl S. Saxton, 81, of Brooklet, GA, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at his home.

He was born in Brunswick, GA, spent most of his formative years in Twin City, and moved to Savannah at the age of 14.  He and his wife, Shirley, lived in Rincon for 31 years where they raised their family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Sammy and Pearl Buchan Saxton.  He was also preceded in death by sisters, Louise, Prescilla, and Sandra.  He coached recreational baseball in Effingham County for 20 years and enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes.  He served in leadership at the First Baptist Church of Rincon and the First Christian Church of Rincon.  In his latter years he attended Islands Christian Church.  He will be remembered for loving and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Shirley Marie Saxton; children, Sonia Whitworth (Erik), Sheila Saxton (Corey), Carl "Buddy" Saxton (Kelly), Stephen Saxton (Marianne), and Brian Saxton (Frances); grandchildren, Brandon Barnes (Andrea), Shannon Barnes, Cory Saxton, Anna Saxton, Madilyn Saxton, Ava Saxton, Claire Saxton, Adler Saxton, Thomas Saxton, and Luke Jesse Saxton; great-grandchildren, Aidan Barnes and Mason Barnes; sister, Carolyn Stevens (Billy), as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 15 ^th at the funeral home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 16th in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
