Obituary

Ms. Carol Rosalind Johnson Lower, 86, of Savannah, Georgia, peacefully passed away at Hospice Savannah on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Carol was born March 31, 1937 to Alvin and Coralie Johnson (of Saba) in Aruba, Netherland Antilles.  When she was seven years old, her family moved to Brooklyn, New York where she lived until she moved to Jacksonville, Florida when she was twenty.  Soon after, Carol married and had one daughter, Lorelei Lynn, and settled in Savannah, Georgia where she served in the United States Navy Reserves, worked for the Neal-Blun Company, and sold insurance.  In 1992, Carol was able to accomplish her dream by moving full time to her river house on Isle of Wright in Midway, Georgia with her best friend, Ann.  They spent their days fishing, crabbing, shrimping, playing cards and doing crossword puzzles.  Carol never missed an episode of her favorite "soap", Guiding Light.  One of Carol's favorite memories at the river was hosting happy hours with her neighbors where she met lifelong friends who became like family.  She is preceded in death by her daughter Lorelei Lynn Brady, her parents Alvin and Caroline, her sisters Shirley Patricia Johnson, Rose Arline Johnson, and Monica Johnson, brother Guy Stanford Johnson, and close friend Ann Ledford.

She is survived by grandchildren Robert Bowen Brady, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia and Kendal Leigh Knight (Ryan) of Camarillo, California; great-grandchildren Isablle Jean and Owen Wilder Knight; son-in-law Robert "Bob" Brady, Sr. of Savannah, Georgia; nephews Bruce McKenny (Sandra) and Kevin Pacetti, as well as niece Shirley Hornyak.

The graveside funeral and burial will be on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery located at 1600 Wheaton Street in Savannah, Georgia.
