Mrs. Carolyn Devereaux Cowart, 89, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital on Sunday, March 10, 2024.
Carolyn was born in Jesup, Georgia and lived most of her life in Savannah. She was preceded in death by her eldest child, William Judson "Billy" Cowart III, parents: Melton and Lucille Palmer Devereaux; siblings: Charles, Virginia, and Donna. She was a homemaker and had previously worked at Kmart. An excellent southern cook, she also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and garage sales. She also loved celebrating holidays, especially Christmas. The loves of her life were her husband, William, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. First and foremost, she loved God.
She was a loyal member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the best mother in the world.
Survivors include her husband of 73 years, William J. Cowart, Jr.; children, Shirley (wife of William Judson "Billy" Cowart III), Richard D. Cowart (wife, Lois), Judy DiNatale, Danny F. Cowart (wife, Darcia), and Sherry Dickson (husband, Hilary); grandchildren, Keith, Judson, Jennifer, Ashley, Zach, Leah, Victoria, Joseph, Brigham, and Sean; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her lifelong friends, Mickey, and Betty Brannen.
The graveside funeral and burial will be on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, located at 315 Greenwich Road in Savannah.
