Carolyn Sue Estle Obituary

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Carolyn Sue Estle, lovingly known as "Sue," who left us on August 1, 2026, at the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law in Bradenton, Florida at the age of eighty-nine. She was born on May 4, 1937, in Anderson, Indiana.

Sue spent the first 18 years of her life in Anderson, Indiana. After graduating from high school, she moved to California to join her brother.

While in California she met and married Marvin Derryberry, Jr. on November 9, 1957. During her 22 years of marriage, Sue was a devoted military spouse who embraced the challenges and joys of military life. She loved traveling and experiencing diverse cultures. Both of her boys were born in different foreign countries – Germany and Turkey. With periods of time when her husband was away serving their country, she took on the roles of both mother and father to their four children juggling and supporting their various sports and activities. Being a mother was the joy of her life.

Between European military posts, her life was a tapestry of varied interests and vocations, each woven in and around her beloved family. A couple of her favorites were a rural route carrier for the United States Postal Service in Kansas and a Tour Guide in Savannah, Georgia’s historic district.

Sue was an immensely talented artist in so many mediums. She utilized her varied talents to open and operate her successful business, Heartfelt Industries. She made and sold her work not just from her own storefront, but she also sold her work to retailers in and around Savannah.

Sue had a deep and abiding love for the Lord and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints. She volunteered and served in multiple capacities with the church during her lifetime. She particularly loved teaching children.

Sue was predeceased by her parents Gerald Leroy Estle and Agatha Laverne (Hiatt) Estle. She is survived by her four cherished children: Tony (Gretchen) Derryberry,

Tina (Mitchell) Paige, James Derryberry (Dee Norris), Julie Gilbert, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.

In accordance with her wishes, a funeral ceremony at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3704 Lorraine Road, Bradenton, FL 34212 will honor Sue's life on August 12, 2026, at 3 pm. Floral tributes may be sent in her name to Robert Toale and Sons Celebration of Life Center 4310 Solutions Lane, Bradenton, FL 34211. After the service, Sue will fly back to Savannah, Georgia where there will be a private family graveside remembrance before she is entombed in her final resting place.

As we bid farewell to Sue, we hold tight to the love and memories she leaves behind, grateful for the time shared and the lessons learned from her gentle, steadfast presence. May she rest in peace, and her spirit live forever in the hearts of those she touched.
