Catha Sue Cox Kessler

Yemassee, SC – Catha Sue Cox Kessler, 99, passed away October 5, 2026 at Roper Hospital after a short illness.

The Chatham County native was a graduate of University of GA with a minor in Art and Bachelor’s in Home Economics, after marriage she became a homemaker. She was a member of Varnville United Methodist Church since 1962 and member of the Young at Hearts. She was a member of the Garden Club and enjoyed flowers and gardening. She enjoyed crafts, painting, sewing, tracing her family history through genealogy, and fishing. She moved to Indigo Hall 4 ½ years ago and enjoyed playing Bridge and Bingo there and was a member of the Yarn Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Eivie Cox and Eunice Odom Cox; her husband of 70 years, Wiley Branch Kessler, Jr.; sister, Ruby Alfreda Cox Spell; and brother, Sidney Timothy Cox.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Kessler Pullen (Jerry); son, Wiley B. Kessler, III (Lynn); grandchildren, Catherine Klauber, William W. Klauber (Sara), Jennifer Nicole Kessler (Sean O’Neil), Shelley Pullen (Jason Kelly), and Jason Pullen (Allison); great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and William Klauber, Max and Madison Kelly, Lilly and Wren Pullen; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 noon, Friday, October 16, 2026 followed by funeral services at 12 noon at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel, 2460 Hwy. 21 S., Rincon, GA 31326.

Interment will follow in Bethesda Church @ Midland Cemetery.
