IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Catherine Ann
Clark Smith
January 21, 1940 – June 13, 2022
Catherine Ann Clark Smith
Ann Smith passed away on June 13th, 2022 after a short illness at Memorial Hospital. She was
82 years young.
Ann was born on January 21, 1940 in Pageland, SC where she met the love of her life
(Raymond) to whom she was married to for 47 years. Ann and Raymond met via a summer
romance when Raymond visited family in the area and attended the same church with Ann and
her family.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; son Ray; parents Clayton David and
Lula Marze Clark; brothers Roy Clark and Horace Clark; and sisters Effie Parham, Betty
Krimminger, and Mary Lou Rivers.
Ann is survived by her daughter Kathy Bradshaw and her husband Donnie; son David and his
wife Angie; as well as her three beautiful granddaughters; Stephanie (Arman) Tolentino, Jessica
(Matt) Gregory, and Caroline Lewallen. Additionally, her great-grandchildren Tate, Cora, Eli, and
Jonah brought her immense joy as she enjoyed keeping up with them via weekly FaceTime
calls and photo posts on her iPad, as well as visits when they came to town.
Ann was very passionate about her church, Rincon United Methodist, and the many friends she
grew and raised families with there over the years. Ann's passion for worship and music was
seen each Sunday as she sang in the church choir for sixty years. Additionally, she was
instrumental in the United Methodist Women's group where she served in several capacities
including President. Every year, Ann looked forward to attending Sunday School Convention
and Campmeeting at the Effingham County Campground where she had served as a
Campground Trustee in the past.
Ann volunteered for many years as a Pink Lady in the Effingham Hospital Auxiliary. She put her
gifts and talents to work in the "Beauty Shop" to ensure that the residents of the Effingham
Nursing Home looked and felt their best. The team of Pink Ladies became the best of friends
throughout their years of service together.
Ann will be missed by so many, but her family knows she is in a better place, reuniting with
family and old friends who preceded her, and singing with her fellow angels.
