Rincon – Charles Terry Benton, 80, passed away September 26, 2023 at his residence.

The Homerville, GA native served in the U.S. Army for 7 years during Vietnam.  He attended Bonnybridge Baptist Church and retired from International Paper.  He enjoyed gardening with plants and flowers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Whaley Benton and Vestal Kirkland Benton; and siblings, Dennie Benton, Arnold Benton, James Benton, Thomas Benton, Tony Benton, Patrick Benton, Hardy Gill, Lois Benton, Doris Benton, Alene Benton, Chiquita Benton, Rosa Davis, and Martha Jean Scott.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Benton; son, Terry Allen Benton, daughter-in-law, Autumn Lea Benton; grandchildren, Ashlee Nicole Benton, Olivia Miquel Schiaffino, Cecily Ann Turner, and Parker Terry Benton; great-grandson, Luca Padraic Schiaffino; brother, Ted Benton; sister, Betty Riggins; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
