Obituary

Charles Thomas Blewett, 53, of Rincon, Georgia, passed away on November 29, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and quiet generosity that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Born in Tifton, GA and raised in Effingham County, Charles graduated from Effingham County High School in 1991 before continuing on to Georgia Southern University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Regional Economic Development. He also received his Associate of Applied Science in Funeral Service Education, a field in which he served families with deep compassion and dignity.

Charles built a diverse and dedicated career. He worked full-time with Georgia Pacific and served part-time with Strickland's Funeral Home, offering comfort and support to families during their most difficult moments. He was also formerly employed with Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville, Georgia, where he was known for his professionalism, care, and steady presence.

A man committed to service beyond himself, Charles was an Eagle Scout, an honor that shaped his character for life. He carried those values into adulthood, becoming a proud member of the Masonic Lodge in Springfield, GA, and Nashville, GA, where he was also Past Master. Charles was a member of the Rincon Global Methodist Church. Whether in his career, his community, or his day-to-day interactions, Charles lived the principles he believed in: integrity, generosity, and helping others without hesitation.

Charles never met a stranger. He had a gift for making people feel seen, welcomed, and valued. He would have given the shirt off his back, literally and without a second thought. His warmth was effortless, and his heart was always open.

He is survived by his loving wife, Leslie Blewett; his devoted parents, Tommy and Margie Blewett; his in-laws, Richard and Wilena Loper; his sister, Sheri-Lyn Owens and her husband Kevin; his brother, John Blewett and his wife Regina; his sisters in-law, Terri Lewis and Marilyn Hodges; his nephews and nieces, Ric Barber and his wife Tiffany, Melissa Barber, Amanda West and her husband Will, Bryce Blewett and his wife Marilyn, Cassidy Shuman and her husband Brent, Ian Blewett, Sydney Owens, Jaydon and Logan Hodges; his great nephews and nieces, Abigail Barber, Kash Barber, Leilani and Wilder West, Emmy and Graham Blewett, who all adored him.

Charles was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Florrie Seckinger, and F.O. and Gwen Blewett, who surely welcomed him home with open arms.

Those who knew Charles will forever remember his generosity, his easy smile, and the way he made every room a little brighter. His life was a testament to kindness, service, and love, and his memory will continue to live on in the many people he touched.

A service honoring Charles's life will be held at Strickland's Funeral Home in Rincon, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 with family and friends gathering to celebrate a man who gave so much of himself to others.  Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Clyo.
