Mr. Charles Atwell McCorkle, Sr.
Springfield – Mr. Charles Atwell McCorkle, Sr., 93, passed away April 25, 2016 at his residence.
The Chatham County native was a self-employed vendor for many years. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and won several championships, but most of all, he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Alice Sykes McCorkle.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Doris H. McCorkle; children, Harriet Leibfried, Charles A. McCorkle, Jr. (Judy), Susan Langford (Larry), Teresa Durden, (Demetrice); 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Springfield Cemetery Annex.
Remembrances may be given to Vista Hospice.
