Charles Buddy "Bud" Nosil

Mr. Charles Buddy "Bud" Nosil, age 95, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Bud was born on a farm in Phillips, Wisconsin, and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He developed a lifelong passion for aviation and proudly joined the United States Air Force in 1952 during the Korean War era. His love of flying continued throughout his life and career.

Bud worked for FlightSafety International in Savannah, where he served as a Flight Instructor until his retirement in 2012. In recognition of his outstanding dedication to aviation, he received the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award in 2025. He also volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol and flew for more than 50 years without an accident, a testament to his skill, professionalism, and commitment to aviation safety.

Beyond flying, Bud enjoyed sailing on the open water, traveling with his beloved wife Carol, cheering on the Chicago Bears, serving at Compassion Christian Church, and spending time with family and friends. He was known for his infectious laugh, warm personality, and the joy he brought to those around him.

Bud will be deeply missed by his wife, Carol Nosil; his son, Charles "Chuck" (Reyna) Nosil; his daughter, Pearl Ann Nosil; his stepchildren, Bruce Kirwan and Dawn (Mark) Williams; His step-grandchildren, Bruce Kirwan Jr., Darrell (Lacy) Williams, Lauren (James) Rotureau, Meagan (Will) Short,

Jeremy (Marcy) Williams, Cassie Whiteside, and Caden Whiteside, as well as several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Nosil Jr. and Anna Morak Nosil, and by his brother, Joseph Nosil.

The family is grateful to the Department of Veterans Affairs and Hospice Savannah for the compassionate care Bud received. They would especially like to thank Betty, RN; Oliver, CNA; Brenda, SW; and the entire Hospice Savannah team for their exceptional support and care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Savannah.

A memorial service celebrating Bud's life will be held at Compassion Christian Church - Eastside (9150 Old Montgomery Rd, Savannah, GA 31406). Visitation will occur at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 4th with service following at 11:00 AM.

Bud's legacy of service, adventure, faith, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
