Charles Reginald "Reggie" Crosby
Rincon – Charles Reginald "Reggie" Crosby, 72, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at his residence after a short illness.
The Effingham County native was a member of Turkey Branch United Methodist Church and attended First Baptist Church of Springfield. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard, the U.S. Navy and Reserves, during the Vietnam War. He retired from International Paper and volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, Mission House at First Baptist Church, and was a former assistant Scout Master.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph William Crosby and Gussie Lee Hodges Crosby; wife of 34 years, Sharon Adams Crosby; and sister, Helen McCullough.
Survivors include his wife, Lenda R. Crosby of Rincon; children, Katherine Crosby-Smith (Doug) of Springfield and William R. Crosby of Guyton; step-daughters, Joy Kay Bell (Lt. Col. R. Reese) of Augusta and Melodie Fulcher (Shane) of Springfield; grandchildren, Kayden Bell, Wesley, Anna, and John David Fulcher; sisters, Willie Lee Smith of Indiana, Betty Shuman and Dorothy Smith both of South Carolina, and Irma Mincey of Hinesville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Springfield. Mr. Crosby will lie in state from 9 a.m.
Interment will follow in the Hodges-Crosby Cemetery at Turkey Branch United Methodist Church.
Remembrances may be given to American Cancer Society, 1930 Springfield-Egypt Rd., Springfield, GA 31329 or Mission House at First Baptist Church, 1435 Hwy. 119 N., Springfield, GA 31329.
