Rincon – Charles Michael "Squirrel" Branch, 86, passed away October 22, 2023 at his daughter's residence.

The Appling County native served in the National Guard and was a member of The Church at Turkey Branch where he had served on the leadership and cemetery committees.  He retired from the Natural Resources Conservation Service after 46 years of service and was very active in leadership roles within the Ogeechee River Conservation District.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Archibald Branch and Bernice Horton Branch; his wife, Doris Williams Branch; and his brother, Eddie Branch.

Survivors include his daughters, Nan Branch and Mia Thomson (Charles); grandson, Zachary Wainright (Lizzie); great-grandson, David Wainright; step-grandchildren, Chase Thompson (Jocelyn) and Bailey Armstrong (Garrett); step-great-granddaughter, Fynlee Thompson; niece, Maleia Branch; sister-in-law, Patricia Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023 in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in The Church at Turkey Branch Cemetery.
