Charles E. Williams
Rincon – Charles E. Williams, 55, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at his residence.
The Effingham County native was a member of First Baptist Church of Springfield, was an avid fisherman, drag racer, and always contributed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. He was employed with Clifton Equipment and member of the Local #474 Operator's & Engineers Union. He was preceded in death by his father, George Henry Williams.
Survivors include his wife Patricia Williams; children, Melissa Poole, Michelle Bodiford, Jennifer Douberly, and Christopher Conner; grandchildren, Robert Poole III, Mallory Poole, Zachary Bodiford, Kealey Bodiford, Caleb Douberly, Erica Douberly, and Landon Douberly; his mother, Jennette Williams; siblings, James Williams, David Williams, Peggy Williams, Marsha Williams, Mary Ruth Murdaugh, and Lamar Williams; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Springfield. Mr. Williams will lie in state from 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
