Charles Ernest Zipperer
Rincon - Charles Ernest Zipperer, 83, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 surrounded
by his wife of 61 years and his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Pevey Zipperer; son, Lamar (Lorraine) Zipperer;
daughter, Mary Jane (Mac) Brinson; grandchildren, Judy (Trey) Daniell, Truitt (Amber)
Zipperer, Jinci (Troy) Allen, Clay Brinson, his fiancée Tiffany Holder;
great-grandchildren, Leslie Daniell, Lance Daniell, and Holland Zipperer; brothers
William (Frances) Zipperer, Bobby (Dorothy) Zipperer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was born on February 18 ,1927 in Effingham County, attended school there and later
served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Zion
Lutheran Church for 83 years and served as vice chairman of the church council and
youth advisor for several years. He was employed by Stone Container where served on
the Credit Union Board and retired after 35 years of service.
He was a member of the Rincon Marine Rescue Squadron for many years and was a
charter member of Bible Based Lutherans of Effingham.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Strickland Funeral
Home, Effingham Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Effingham Chapel
with burial to follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pastor Andrew Krey
officiating.
Pallbearers are: Alan Zipperer, Ernest Zipperer, Scott Pevey, Paul Pevey, Dickie Gates,
and Jim Cole.
