Charley "Chuck" Curtis Clanton, 69, or Ridgeland, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Broad Creek Care Center.

Chuck was born on December 1, 1953 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to the late Norbra Richard "Dick" Clanton and Geneva "Mildrene" (Bowring) Clanton.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Gene Clanton, and a nephew, M. Shane Clanton.  He graduated from high school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was the fourth Eagle-scout in Willburton, Oklahoma.  Chuck took great pleasure in being a ship captain for over 30 years and made many friends along the way.  He enjoyed wood working, traveling, was a history buff, never met a stranger, and loved his family.

Survivors include his brother, Tony Lane Clanton of Blanchard, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Jennifer Clanton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his Daring family is South Carolina; numerous nieces, nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.

Chuck's wishes were to be cremated with no formal service.
