Springfield – Mrs. Charlotte Altman Scott, 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 under the care of Hospice Savannah and St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Mrs. Charlotte was born in Springfield, Georgia on March 20, 1945. She was born in the back bedroom of the house in which she still resided and named by the doctor who delivered her. Mrs. Charlotte proudly held the titles Mama and Nana. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Charlotte was retired from Springfield City Hall. She was a member of Elam Egypt Baptist Church.

Mrs. Charlotte loved to can tomatoes, make homemade dill pickles, and tend to her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband and high school sweatheart, Raymond O’Neil Scott; parents, Horace Sr. and Lessie Altman; brothers, E. Vernon Altman and Horace “HJ” Altman; and sister, Beatrice Altman.

Survivors include daughters, Melisa Bragg (David) and Holly Winkler (Kennith) both of Springfield; grandchildren, Joshua Bragg, Shannon Elise Oglesby (Anthony), William Schaffer, Addison Hasty (Corey), and Michael O’Neil Winkler; and great-grandchildren, Josiah and Nathan Oglesby and Maisy Hasty.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the friends, family, DaVita Care Team, and Amedisys Care Team who have come beside us over the last two years of Mrs. Charlotte’s medical journey. There are no words to express how grateful we are.

Visitation: 1 -2 pm Saturday, June 13, 2026 in the funeral home.

Funeral: 2 pm Saturday, June 13, 2026 in the funeral home chapel.

Burial: Springfield Cemetery Annex

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent in Mrs. Charlotte Scott’s memory to Pineora Baptist Church Wheel Chair Ramp Fund, 131 Elkins St, Guyton, GA 31312.
