Cheryl Woods Beard
Guyton- Cheryl Woods Beard, 53, died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at her home. Her family and friends were by her side when the angels slipped their arms around Cheryl and carried her home. She was born in Savannah, GA to the late James H. and Ola Mae Woods. She was preceded in death by her brother, Mike Woods.
Cheryl served and worked at Memorial Medical University for 34 years as a Respiratory Therapist in the Critical Care Units. She was very active in teaching Cardiac Life Support. Through her life of service, she touched and positively impacted thousands of lives. If you or anyone of your dear ones ever received care in one of the units, Cheryl surely touched yours and your family's lives through her skills, compassion, and love; and you touched her life. Her sense of service, loyalty, and empathy to others was evident in all parts of her life – family, friends and patients alike. She lifted us up and carried us when we needed her. Her selflessness knew no bounds, her love knew no end. We are all the better for having been a part of her life.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Lucius Alton Beard, Jr.; two sons, Christopher Alton Beard and Stephen James Beard; sister and brother –in-law, Patti and Tony Wall; brother, Jim Woods; a niece, Erin Wall; sister-in-law, Cathy Beard Justice; a nephew, Carson Justice; and a multitude of friends. She is also survived by the two tiny loves of her life, her daschunds, Peanut and Pewee.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday, November 14, 2012 in the funeral home.
Funeral service to celebrate Cheryl's life will be 1 pm Thursday, November 15, 2012 in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
