Garden City - Mrs. Christine Stokes Jarrell, 77, passed away on Tuesday at the Effingham Care Center in Springfield. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas A. Jarrell, Jr.; brothers, James Stokes, Sr. and Paul Stokes; and sister, Doris Burgess.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley (Ron) Van Hall; son, David (Holly) Jarrell; grandchildren, Krista, Brandon, Aaron, and Amber; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Waring (Dot) Stokes, Charles (Marion) Stokes, Earl (Shirley) Stokes; sisters-in-law, Betty Sheppard, Nell Stokes, and Margie Winn, along with several nieces, nephews and loving friends.
She was a member of the Church of Christ of Garden City. Over the years Mrs. Jarrell made many friends serving customers at The Pirates House and Carey Hilliard's on Highway 80.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010 in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Elkins Cemetery on Hwy 204.
