Clarence "Chief" Bashlor
Springfield- Clarence "Chief" Bashlor, 80, died Friday, November 30 at home surrounded by his family after a long illness.
Mr. Bashlor was born in Bryan County and was a member of Rincon Church of God. He and his wife, Carolyn owned and operated Griffin Lakes for 20 years. He was retired from Atlantic Meat Company. He was also Vice President of Bashlor's Automotive, where he worked with his son for 24 years.
Mr. Bashlor was so proud to serve his country as Staff Sergeant of the 4th Infantry during the Korean War. He had also retired as a Master Sergeant of the 117th Air National Guard.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Bashlor; children, Stanley Bashlor (Darlene) of Guyton; Stephen Bashlor (Pam) of Springfield, and Stephanie Long (Brad) of Springfield; grandchildren, Poppy Brown, Jaime Miller, Matthew Bashlor, Brandon Long (Kelly), Tiffany Writch (Zach), Bryan Bashlor, Tyler Bashlor, Bo Bashlor, Alan Skipper, and Phillip Skipper; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 1-2:30 pm Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Rincon Church of God.
Funeral: 2:30 pm Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Rincon Church of God.
Interment: Elam-Egypt Baptist Church Cemetery.
