Rincon – Clarence Murray Kight passed into eternal rest on December 4, 2021.  Born on October 27, 1932 to Amos and Minnie Kight, Murray was the sixth of seven children.  From humble beginnings, Murray spent his life in Effingham County becoming a successful businessman as a co-owner of Kight Ford as well as a cherished husband, loving father, and proud grandfather; civic leader, a National Guard Veteran; and Christian servant.  His life was a testament to his faith and belief in humility, honesty, fairness, respect, and hard work.

Murray was preceded in death by his wife, Voncile Moody Kight (2004), his parents Amos and Minnie Kight, brothers Edwin Preston Kight, Hilton Kight (Cora), and Louie Kight, sisters Ruby Deloach (Charles) and Iris Sikes (Layton).

He is survived by his wife, Rachel M. Kight, brother Joe Olliff Kight (Maxie), daughters Mona Kight Ratchford (Joseph), Molly Kight Marchese (Joe), grandchildren Ryan Kight Ratchford (Allison), John Murray Ratchford (fiancée Emma Wheeler), Katie Kight Marchese, Ella Voncile Marchese, Lucy Jo Marchese and numerous nieces and nephews.

"Papa" will be greatly missed by his friends and family.  His willingness to help, sharp wit, and entertaining stories will be cherished by all who knew him, and his legacy of servanthood will live on through the many lives he touched throughout his lifetime.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Strickland's Funeral Home, 2460 Highway 21 S., Rincon, GA 31326.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021 in the chapel of the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Springfield Cemetery Annex.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Building Fund of Trinity Baptist Church of Springfield, PO Box 1260, Springfield, GA  31329 or a church of your choice in memory of Murray Kight.
