Guyton – Clayton Phillip Morgan, Sr., 78, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022 at his residence.

He was a lifetime resident of Effingham County and retired from C.S.X. Railroad after 42 years of service.  He was a man of the Christian faith and a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church where he faithfully served over 30 years as Chairman of the Cemetery Association.  He was a Master Mason of the Guyton Masonic Lodge #428 F. & A.M. and served in the U.S. Army National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, G.P. and Irene Morgan, and his son, Clayton P. Morgan, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Stella Thressa Morgan; his sons, Phillip Lenix Morgan (Kathy) and Scott Dawson Morgan; daughter-in-law, Lyna Morgan; grandchildren, Sean Morgan (AshLynn), Leah Allen (Brian), Mallory Morgan, and Macy Morgan; great-grandchildren, Elric and Winry Morgan; sisters, Carol Page and Joann Conaway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Bethesda United Methodist Church followed by funeral services at 12 noon.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
