Pooler – Cleo Bailey Odom, 89, daughter of the late James Oscar Bailey and Bertha NeSmith Bailey, died early Thursday morning, June 27, 2013 at Hospice Savannah.
Mrs. Odom was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Pooler since 1962. She served as a Sunday school teacher for the church for many years having taught many age groups. Mrs. Odom had a heart for missions and recently wrapped six hundred shoe boxes and sewed six hundred tote bags for Samaritan's Purse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Odom, Sr. and her son, Gary Odom.
Surviving are her daughter, Gale Brown (Tommy) of Pooler; two sons, Joe Odom of Lucasville, Ohio and Archie Odom, Jr. (Kristi) of Guyton; three sisters, Annie Laura Wildenradt of Statesboro, Frances Kruse of Statesboro, and Dorothy Butterworth of Shreveport, LA; one brother, James "Ed" Bailey (Ree) of Statesboro; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6 - 8 pm on Friday at Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home in Pooler.
Funeral: 11 am Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Pooler with Rev. Otis Hill and Rev. Earl Best officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Win One Sunday School Class.
Interment: Brannen Cemetery in Bulloch County.
